1.Introduction
The Digital Literacy for Preventing Violent Extremism (PVE) Seminar aims to explore how digital tools, online education, social media, skill certification, and online business initiatives can be leveraged to counter extremist ideologies and promote peace. The seminar will bring together experts and practitioners to share knowledge, strategies, and best practices on utilizing digital literacy to empower communities and prevent radicalization.

We are seeking dynamic, experienced Resource Persons who can provide valuable insights on specific topics related to digital literacy and PVE. This document outlines the roles, responsibilities, and expectations for Resource Persons.

2. Objectives of the Seminar

  • Enhance media literacy and critical thinking skills to empower individuals in identifying, analyzing, and resisting extremist content, hate speech, and misinformation online.
  • Promote responsible digital citizenship by encouraging positive online engagement and the ethical use of digital platforms to counter radicalization and foster inclusive discourse

3. Role and Responsibilities of Resource Persons

  1. Deliver a Keynote Address: The resource person will conduct a one-day orientation session. As part of this session, they will deliver a keynote presentation on a topic related to digital literacy and preventing violent extremism (PVE). The presentation should comprehensively cover the subject matter, provide practical insights and strategies, and engage participants in meaningful and critical discussions. The session will be designed to be interactive, informative, and aligned with the thematic areas of gender inclusiveness, constructive use of social media, community peacebuilding, and youth empowerment through entrepreneurship
  2. Contribute to Q&A Sessions: Engage with the seminar audience through a Q&A session following your keynote presentation, answering questions and fostering deeper understanding on your area of expertise.
  3. Lead an Interactive Workshop (Optional):  Some speakers may be asked to lead a hands-on, interactive workshop or panel discussion based on their expertise. This will focus on providing practical tools and solutions for participants.
  4. Provide Case Studies and Examples: Highlight relevant case studies, research findings, or practical examples from your work or sector that demonstrate the application of digital literacy to prevent violent extremism.
  5. Collaborate with Seminar Organizers: Work closely with the seminar organizers to finalize session plan, presentation and materials. Provide any required resources or documentation (e.g., slides, reports) before the seminar.

5. Expected Qualifications and Expertise
Resource Person should have the following qualifications and expertise:

  • Relevant Experience: At least 5 years of experience in fields such as digital education, social media strategy, online business, PVE, or skill certification.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Proven expertise in the session's theme (e.g., online education, social media content, skill certification, marketing for social change, etc.).
  • Ability to Engage the Audience: Strong presentation and public speaking skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Commitment to the Seminar’s Vision: Alignment with the goals of the seminar to promote peace, counter radicalization, and build community resilience.

 

6. Reporting & Coordination

The Resource Person will work under the direct supervision of the PEACE Project Officer and will coordinate closely with project Program Associate.

7. Duration & Location

  • Duration: The assignment is for 30 Days in which overall 4 events (one-day session each) will be conducted.
  • Location: The Seminar will be conducted on two different localities

 

    1. District Khuzdar: The position requires travel to Khuzdar to conduct sessions, coordinate submissions, and execute the 2 events (1 Male and 1 Female).
    2. District Pishin: The position requires travel to Pishin to conduct sessions, coordinate submissions, and execute the 2 events (1 Male and 1 Female).

8. Honorarium;

  • Honorarium: Keynote speakers will receive an honorarium to cover their participation costs. Specific details regarding the amount will be shared upon agreement.

9. Confidentiality and Code of Conduct
Resource person will be required to:

  • Respect confidentiality agreements regarding sensitive information shared during the seminar.
  • Maintain professional conduct throughout the event and adhere to the seminar's ethical guidelines.
  • PSEAH: The individual consultant/trainer or firm is required to abide by organization policy and procedures on “Protection from Sexual Exploitation Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH annexure attached)” in letter and in spirit, entailing adopting special measures to ensure that their staff, staff and above all the beneficiaries are protected from any kind of exploitation, harassment, abuse and sexual offenses at all costs. This includes provision of services based on merit/criteria alone and without any prejudice or discrimination specially in case of women/female individuals or children. organization has zero tolerance policy in such a case and this contract will be considered terminated immediately upon findings of such a case.
